Overview

When Legionella is detected or following major works, system disinfection is essential to restore safety and compliance. Our disinfection service follows HSE and BS 8558 guidelines, ensuring effective treatment with minimal disruption to your operations.

Disinfection Methods

Thermal Disinfection (Pasteurisation)
Heating water to >60°C throughout the system for sustained periods. Ideal for hot water systems without chemical risks. Lower impact on system components.

Chemical Disinfection (Chlorination)
Dosing the system with chlorine to achieve 20-50ppm free chlorine for specified contact times. Effective for cold water systems and complex pipework. Suitable for all water temperatures.

Shock Chlorination
High-dose chlorine treatment following system works, extended shutdowns, or positive Legionella results. Rapid and effective for emergency situations.

Disinfection Process

1. Pre-Disinfection Survey
We assess your system, review recent test results, and plan the disinfection programme with you.

2. Risk Assessment
Method statement prepared covering all safety considerations, site access, and operational requirements.

3. Disinfection Treatment
Systematic treatment of the entire water system with continuous monitoring and adjustment.

4. Flushing & Neutralisation
Thorough flushing to remove residual chemicals and achieve safe chlorine levels (<0.5ppm).

5. Verification Sampling
Post-treatment samples taken from representative outlets and sent for laboratory analysis.

6. Clearance Report
Full documentation provided including disinfection records and test results.
